Referrers and Referrals
The Referrers page, one row per person or firm that sends you business, with the leads and cases they brought and the lifetime billed and collected behind each. What a referrer is versus a referral, how this rollup is built, and how you record a referrer in the first place.
A referrer is a person or firm that sends you business, the colleague who passes you a conflict, the accountant who recommends you, the past client who tells a friend. A referral is a single instance of that happening, one lead they sent your way. The Referrers page rolls all of that up: one row per referrer, showing everyone they have sent you and what that relationship has been worth over its lifetime. It is how you answer the question every firm should ask but few can, who actually sends us our best work, and have we thanked them?
How a Referrer Gets Here
You do not add a referrer on this page. A referrer is just a contact, and they show up here automatically the moment you credit them on a lead. When you open a lead and name who referred it (on The Lead Page), Outlaw records the referral and that contact appears on this page with the lead attached. Send them a second lead later and it joins the same row. So the way to build this page is simply to fill in the referrer every time you log a new lead, a few seconds that turns into a complete picture of your referral network over time.
Reading the Columns
The columns are grouped to walk from the relationship to the money it produced.
- Basic Info names the referrer and lists the people they referred to you.
- Leads shows the leads that referrer brought, each lead’s risk, and the stage it has reached, so you can see not just how many prospects a referrer sends but how good they tend to be.
- Cases shows the cases that grew out of those leads, with the unbilled, due, and trust figures for each.
- Financials is the lifetime bottom line: the total billed and total collected across everything that referrer has ever brought you.
By default the list sorts by total collected, highest first, so your most valuable referral sources sit right at the top, the people most worth a thank-you note or a lunch.
Finding a Referrer
The search box matches the referrer’s name and the names of the people they referred, so you can find a relationship from either end. Clicking a row opens a read-only detail card that breaks the referrer down in full, every lead and case they brought, with the billed and collected totals spelled out. When you want the picture outside Outlaw, export the list to a spreadsheet from the toolbar.
