Intake & Custom Fields

Your firm's own questions on a record: eleven field types, with encryption for sensitive answers.

You'll find this section on a contact, a lead and a case.

The Intake & Custom Fields section is where you fill in the questions and fields your firm defined: the data Outlaw doesn’t ask for out of the box but your practice needs. Define a question once in Settings and it appears on the record types you attached it to, ready to answer.

Field Types

A question can be any of eleven types: Text, Date, DateTime, Time, Number, Money, Checkbox, Multiple Choice, Notes, Contact(s), or User(s). The Contact(s) type links the answer to real contacts in your system, so “referred by” or “emergency contact” answers stay connected, not just typed.

Questions can also be limited by case type, so a personal-injury intake doesn’t clutter an estate-planning case.

Encrypted Fields

Mark a question encrypted for sensitive answers (identifying numbers and the like). Encrypted questions show a lock icon next to their label, and their answers are stored encrypted in the database rather than as plain values.

Answers save as you fill them in, question by question. There’s no separate save step to lose.

Setting Up the Questions

The Configure button in the section’s title bar jumps to the Intake area of Settings for the record type you’re on (contacts, leads, or cases).

The Client File

Intake answers are client-provided information about the case, part of the client’s file. In the client portal, intake is the section clients are asked to fill out themselves.

Where You’ll See It

Intake & Custom Fields can appear on a contact, a lead, and a case, depending on where you attached each question. (This is the surface previously labeled “Questions.”)
