Participant Roles
The legal roles people play on a lead or case (Attorney, Opposing Counsel, Judge), used when adding participants.
You'll find this page in Settings under Contacts.
Participant roles describe the part a person plays in a lead or case: Attorney, Opposing Counsel, Judge, Expert Witness. They’re what you choose from when adding a participant (see the Participants section), and they matter beyond labeling: a conflict check examines the participants on your leads and cases, so consistent roles make those reports readable.
Built-In Roles
A couple of roles, Client and Benefactor, are built into how Outlaw works (clients anchor a case; a benefactor is someone paying on another person’s behalf). They appear in bold in the list and can’t be edited or deleted. Everything else is yours to shape.
Managing the List
Add the roles your practice area actually uses, and only here: the participant picker in the app doesn’t accept new roles on the fly, so the vocabulary stays under administrator control. A role that’s in use on a lead or case can’t be deleted; duplicates can be combined with Merge. This list holds the legal roles only. Familial links (Mother, Spouse) live on the Relationship Types page, though both kinds can be used when adding participants to a lead or case.
