Task Settings
Firm-wide task validation rules, appearance options for the Task Grid, and the task-complete bell.
You'll find this page in Settings under Tasks.
The Task Settings page mixes two kinds of switches: firm-wide rules about what a valid task must have, and personal display preferences for how tasks look on your screen.
Task Requirements (Firm-Wide)
Three validation rules you can enforce when tasks are edited:
- Ensure an activity type is selected: every task must carry an activity (when its category has related activity types). Time entries without activities make for vague invoices; this closes that door.
- Ensure a category is selected: every task must have at least one category.
- Ensure category relationships are enforced: a task categorized as marketing, sales, or client work must be connected to its campaign, lead, or case. This is the rule that keeps billable work from floating unattached.
Appearance
Emoji support for tasks is a firm-wide toggle that adds an emoji bar to tasks, for quickly expressing how you feel about one.
The other three are personal preferences. They affect only your own browser, not the firm:
- Show Grid Numbers: show each task’s grid number (1 to 9) from the priority grid, so you can see at a glance that a grid-1 task (high impact, high urgency) outranks a grid-2.
- Show Date Labels: show the due date at the start of each task description.
- Show Client/Participant Names: show the client (from the task’s lead or case) and any participants in the task description.
Sound Effects
Should a bell ring when you complete a task? Like the victory sound in Lead Settings, purely a matter of office taste.
